This week F is for friendship. It’s such a simple word with so much meaning. When I say “friend,” who pops up in your mind? I think of my husband, a few close friends from church, a few from school, and my family. But, the one true friend I’ll always have, even unto death is Jesus.

F is for Friendship

Friendship is not defined by who, but by what, if that makes sense. Friends are there for you in times of turmoil, chipping in and supporting you. They laugh together and go crazy. They are the ones you can turn to when you need to vent, cry, laugh, or need a lift. Friendships can last a lifetime or for a few seasons.

And what makes Jesus the best friend of all? He loved me while I was still a sinner. He came with the sole purpose of saving me. He died on the cross for me. He takes me as I am and gave me His all. That’s a friend. That’s why I love Jesus and why I call Him friend.

If you haven’t met Jesus yet, consider this hymn – What a Friend We Have in Jesus.

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.

Yeah…Jesus loves me and I love Him. He’s my Lord, my Savior…my bestest friend.
