Writing for 5 minutes each Friday on a specific topic is exciting…and excruciating at times. My word of the week is SAFE.

When I think of safe, I think of resting in God’s Word and on His holy promises. I’m safe in His arms, in His care, and in the promise that by believing in Jesus I’ll have everlasting life in heaven.

It also causes me to stop and remember that the opposite of safe is danger. While I may be safe in God’s hands, this world is full of danger – sins that want to pull me under and suffocate me, deceitful people that want to destroy my beliefs, enemies that want to hurt me physically. We live in a scary world, of that there is no doubt.

However, I choose to turn away from those sins that haunt me.

I choose to ignore those deceitful people. Although they are everywhere, with great discernment, they are sometimes easy to pick out.

I choose to pray for my enemies and not give in to the fear.

For these reasons I am safe:

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. – Psalm 4:8

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. – Proverbs 18:10

When you are feeling overwhelmed, burdened, or in danger, turn to the one that can save you – from the sins, lies, and deceits that prey on us each day. Rest in God’s care, in His loving hands. Trust in Him and fall into His arms. Be safe. Forever.
