Ironing is not one of my favorite things to do, although there are times when I seek peace and quiet that I can go iron and miraculously, no one seeks me out.
Anyway, I don’ like all the harsh chemicals in laundry starch. Johnny has a few shirts that must be ironed so I prefer to use this recipe for making my own homemade laundry starch. It’s amazing how well it really works. It gives his shirts that “just pressed” appearance which I really like.
LAUNDRY STARCH
1 cup water
1 tablespoon corn starch
2 drops essential oil of choice
Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle. Shake well with each use. Very lightly spray garment and iron as usual.
NOTE: This did leave a few white specks if the spray came out too much but after I ironed the shirt I was able to go back and dust them off. So, spray lightly!
