Last Christmas my sister-in-law introduced me to the No ‘Poo Method of washing my hair.  I was a little skeptical at first, but after trying it, realized how great my hair feels and how “bouncy” it is.

This is a three step process.

Step 1:  Wet hair as you normally would.  Take a handful of baking soda and add a little water to it making a paste.  Massage this paste into your scalp (and only your scalp).  It may take several batches of paste to completely cover your scalp.  Let it sit a minute.  Rinse thoroughly with water.

Step 2:  Spray your hair (all over) with raw apple cider vinegar (nothing pasteurized).  I use Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar.  I simply have the vinegar in a spray bottle in the bathroom.  Rinse thoroughly with water.

Step 3:  Condition as you normally would.

The baking soda cleans your scalp and removes excess oils and dirt.  The vinegar helps to remove any excess buildup.  It’s really amazing what it’s done to my hair.  I style as usual when I’m out of the bath, but with all the excess gel/mousse build up removed, my hair seems to “take” the gel better.

Note: If you have color-treated hair, I’m not sure that this would be good for your hair.  The vinegar may strip it of the dye.
